John Galliano And Oscar de la Renta Join Together

Guess who’s going to be making a comeback this February… John Galliano!  He’s been offered residency Oscar de la Renta’s studio, much to the applause of us fashion fans.

John was fired from Dior and resigned from his personal label a few years ago after anti-Semitic remarks while intoxicated.  Since then John has reportedly been making strides toward recovery personally and professionally.

“I am an alcoholic,” Galliano told WWD. “I have been in recovery for the past two years. Several years prior to my sobriety, I descended into the madness of the disease. I said and did things which hurt others, especially members of the Jewish community. I have expressed my sorrow privately and publicly for the pain which I caused, and I continue to do so. I remain committed to making amends to those I have hurt.”

Oscar himself released a statement regarding the matter stating, “John and I have known each other for many years and I am a great admirer of his talent,” de la Renta said. “He has worked long and hard on his recovery and I am happy to give him the opportunity to reimmerse himself in the world of fashion and reacclimate in an environment where he has been so creative.”

Galliano, who is known for his romatic and theatrical designs, is the perfect compliment to Oscar’s uptown luxury direction.  I can hardly wait to see what maasterpieces will be stomping down the runway in a few weeks.

It’s a welcome return, not only by those who have dearly missed John’s creative genius, it is welcomed by Galliano as well.  Galliano starts his statement with feelings of gratitude for the American designer.

“I am grateful to Oscar beyond words for inviting me to spend time with him in the familiar surroundings of a design studio,” Galliano said. “His support and faith in me is humbling.”

What a beautiful beginning to start the new year. There’s nothing I love more than seeing creative support and expressions of gratitude.
