The small 6 passenger plane was carrying Ottavio Missoni’s son Vittorio, 58, the head of the Missoni company, his wife Maurizia Castiglioni and their two Italian friends along with the pilot and co-pilot.
Friday, the pair of friends, boarded the plane to return to Italy after a vacation spent in Los Roques, a popular European dive resort. The trip was to be a short one, 90 miles off the mainland. The plane disappeared shortly after take off.
The search is continuing today. Rescue teams, being overseen by Lucas, another of Missoni’s sons who is also involved in the family business, are in Venezuela. The plane was officially declared missing by Venezuela’s Interior Minister Nestor Reverol on Friday.
The families and friends remain hopeful.
