Kate Upton and Mercedes Benz Cause Mass Hysteria And Personal Confusion

Mercedes Benz hired Kate Upton to promote the new Benz CLA for their upcoming Superbowl commercial.

Every blog post, every news article, and most comments I’ve read take a similar tone.  This is tacky! This is porn! This is insulting to women! They did this JUST TO SELL CARS!

Yep. Yep. Yep. And of course sex is used to sell cars.

So why is the discussion currently taking place centered on whether or not Kate is a slut and Continue reading

And She’s Off! Kate Upton Scores Another Vogue Cover!!!

Kate Upton is the cover girl for the more commercial British Vogue. Her image is making the rounds as she tries out all aspects of fashion.  From her November cover of Italian Vogue to now, she’s really beginning to take shape as a model.  At first Kate found it difficult to be taken seriously.  It seems that she’s changing attitudes and may last longer than a few seasons.  Do you think Upton has what it takes to be the next Supermodel?  What brands do you see her representing?

Twitter Wars: Comedy Meets Fashion

Supermodel Karen Elson received major twitter back lash after she tweeted: ‘Daniel Tosh didn’t get the memo that [rape] never was and never will be funny’ She has since deleted the tweet.

Backlash ensued, which is crazy. Why attack Karen? She spoke her mind, she did’t say that Daniel Tosh isn’t funny, just that he never received a memo about what isn’t funny.  I’m pretty sure every comic out there didn’t receive that memo because rape is a common topic in stand up acts. Why? Uncomfortable topics make us laugh.

Unfortunately one attention seeking troll on twitter completely missed the point and responded:  Continue reading

Isabella Rossellini Ageless And Authentic

FABULOUS! Isabella Rossellini is on the cover of Italian Vogue for the June 12 issue.  I couldn’t be more thrilled!  She began modeling when when she was 28 and now at nearly 60 years old, she looks stunning. Gorgeous.  Full of life.

Styled by Karl Templer and photographed by Steven Meisel, this cover is an insta-classic. It take a strong step forward into the new age of fashion; one in which women get to celebrate how awesome it is to be a woman. The cover line tells us all. Fashion isn’t simply about looking good anymore, it’s about feeling good.

Italian Vogue has always been the mecca of fashion bibles with American Vogue a very close, commercially driven, second.  Anna Wintour took a huge risk years ago when she came out with the annual Shape Issue that celebrated all sizes.  And now, Italian editor, Franca Sozzani, has taken that message a step further beyond shapes and sizes, stepping beyond physical boundaries and into the expression of spirit.

Don’t you just feel good about yourself looking at Isabella’s authentic smile? I do.

I can’t wait to see the editorial inside.  Absolutely beautiful.  Thank you to everyone involved in making this cover happen.
