The Bootstraps Foundation, founded in 1986 by The Nashville Banner’s publisher, Irby Simpkins and Ray Danner, chairman of Shoney’s Inc., is a not-for-profit organization that rewards higher education scholarships yearly to students who have persevered through adversity.

The foundation embodies the selfless community focused spirit I’ve experienced in Nashville.  And here’s what I really love about Nashville.  If you have a creative idea, people gather together and say yes.  It’s unlike any creative city I’ve lived in.  People are not afraid to get involved and they’re not afraid of commitment.  That kind of attitude brings a diversity of talent pools together to create something even more powerful than money or fame.  It creates soul.

In this case, stylist Milton White, wanted to put together a benefit fashion show and so he reached out to his friends.  They all said yes.  So get this, former CEO of the CMA (Country Music Association) and current CEO of Music City Sports and Entertainment Group, Tammy Gennovese is teaming up with Tennessee Titans kicker, Rob Buronas and country music star, Danielle Peck to host this event.  Where else does fashion join forces with football and country?  I can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Betsy Briggs Cathcart and her team from Studio BBC Salon Hair is donating their talent.  MACS/AMAX and Eye Management will be lending their models to the cause.  All designs shown are local Nashville designers.  I’m psyched.

I’ll be there, of course, filming it all with my new flip cam. (Thank you E!)  My dear hilarious friend Melanie Vare and I are going to venture into the world of reporting live by interviewing all the participants. WOOT WOOT!  Gonna be awesome.
