“Prep Club” hit the Maritime Hotel when Tommy Hillfiger presented his men’s 2013 spring collection last week. And it looks… Tommy Hilfiger-esqu! Exactly what we’ve come to expect from him, he adds an edge this season with nautical and military influences shaping the American Prep designer’s collection. Classic crisp whites, spirited blues and athletic reds are woven all throughout the collection. The styling is effortless. Most of these looks could be taken directly from runway to real-way and any man would fit in anywhere at any time.
Tommy Hilfiger does Americana with a vintage, relaxed twist. I, for one, am dying for the distressed chinos and regatta jackets. Gorgeous~!
I’ve stayed at the Maritime Hotel a few times. All the windows look like the port holes of a ship and the rooms, true to New York, feel about the size of a ship cabin. Cramped but designed well. Unfortunatley, the grand patio that houses a bar and restaurant, La Bottega, overlooking 9th Ave is normally filled with the who’s who of clubbers, traveling business peeps and wannabe’s. I’m glad that Tommy classed it up by inviting his A-list crowd in to celebrate the new collection. The space looks amazing and totally fitting for the Prep Club collection.
