I know, a lot of you ladies and gents are thinking it so I’ll just go ahead and say it.
What a lucky bitch.
Maybe yes… maybe no. I’m just saying, a few of you are thinking it. I might have.
I do wonder what that moment feels like realizing, while freaking out about whatever gift tax you now must pay because you just gave a hundred grand to cousin so and so who wants to open a center for martial arts for his child to train in and one day run and will I ever see my money back or a profit on my investment, that oh fuck it, I still have a couple ten billion to play around with while my financial gurus protect my future holdings or whatever the terminology is for people who have enough money to protect future generations Rockefeller-esque.
Financial freedom so you can get on with actual life. I need transportation, I buy a car. I need health insurance, I buy health insurance. I need a home to raise my child in, I purchase land, I build a home. I realize I need therapy, I go see a therapist. I need food, I buy food.
Ever wonder what would happen to the world as we know it if everyone had their needs provided for? Would we chill out, become less fearful, do meaningful work and raise a more compassionate generation or would we end up self-destructing?
I used to purchase $95 tee-shirts from Fred Segal and didn’t think twice about it. All my needs and the needs of my family and friends had been met and I still had money to spend on things that gave me pleasure. Now a 12$ tee-shirt from Target freaks me out and I’m not kidding. I’ve got bills people. Bills with real consequences if they don’t get paid.
Do I miss 95$ tee-shirt world? Not really. I would like to have that feeling of financial security again; that everything is ok. And really, it is ok. With or without my child’s education fully funded. I’m ok. We’re all ok today. And we’re all experiencing the same financial stress right now… just different levels of exposures. Anyways… enough about my thoughts on this matter… Here’s the happy couple!
The guest thought they were showing up to Pricilla Chan’s graduation party, Zuckerberg’s girlfriend of 9 years. But nope, they were treated to a suprise! wedding! She looks glowing. He looks superb. I was happy to hear that it was a small affair, 100 guests instead of the billionaire blow out it could have been. Totally awesome! Congrats you two!
